CaraS Week03

The colors aren't final, I just put them in to try to clarify the designs

Here is my current progress for the horned king, who's design should eventually be linked to his ship in some way:

And they both should probably be linked to the castle (or I can go back and adjust the castle to link to them):

  1. Hi Cara,

Great work this week! 2 and 5 are my favorites from this batch as they offer some pretty unique shapes. 3 and 4 could work as well i just think some more work needs to be done with their back sections as they feel a bit uninteresting.

For 2, i think some of the shapes of gold could be a bit better broken up as the square shape on top and the flood filled bottom feel a bit heavy for something that feels more decorative. Something similar with 5, but with the green framing material on its back egg sack thing - the shapes are feeling a bit too organic and mushy. Creating some more contrast in areas like the white exposed areas swelling - like they're being pinched by the green possibly. I also think how the wings are attaching for both and the starting section of the wings on 5 could be de cluttered a bit - there's a ton of material change and breakup here that i think could use some simpler more contrasting forms. Carry on!

    1. Thanks for the feedback! Hopefully I'll have time after the workshop to make some adjustments before class

  2. Lol oh god his eyes are puking!!!
aside from that! The design work on his 80's cape (super cool) especially on 1 and 3 could easily be transferred to the ships to spice them up a little and add some surface breakup contrast.
The environment is coming along nicely - really love the shapes of those buildings!

    1. Hahaha!
Okay good, I was getting a bit worried that the designs wouldn't feel connected, I'll experiment with integrating the cape designs onto the ships. Thank you!
